Explainer Video

F1 Sprint Format Changes Explainer!

Project

The motion graphic overlays had to be done quickly to help communicate to the F1 audience the new rules of the F1 Sprint changes.

Role

Motion Designer

Process

I began by reviewing the brief provided by the producer, then sketched out a clear and digestible layout on paper. From those low-fidelity drawings, I moved into Illustrator to develop the initial designs. After sharing layout visuals for approval, I proceeded to animate. Once the motion graphics were complete, I exported the final assets and delivered them to the editor, along with a custom .mogrt file for added flexibility in post-production.

Outcome

Working closely with the producer, I delivered 4 motion graphic overlays and 1 motion graphic template to the video editor. The video got 600k+ views and was shown on TV, Social media, and race circuits on sprint weekends.

Say Whats!

Part of my work at F1 involved transcribing and animating pre-existing text animator styles, working closely with producers and editors to ensure all radio snippets were accurately captured, grammatically correct, and reflected exactly how they were spoken. These assets were often needed on a tight turnaround for use in social media content and YouTube highlights across Practice sessions, Qualifying, Sprints, and Races.
